+Bishop Gerald N. Dino: Eternal Memory And Blessed Repose

Bishop Gerald Nicholas Dino, Eparch Emeritus of Phoenix and a dear son of the Seminary, fell asleep in the Lord on November 14, 2020. He graduated from the Seminary in 1965 and taught here in the mid-1970s, serving as Dean of Studies as well as Professor of Dogma and Patrology. He earned his undergraduate degree from Duquense University and completed the OESL licentiate at the Pontifical Institute for Oriental Studies in 1972.

A priest for more than 55 years, he was ordained for the Eparchy of Passaic on March 21, 1965. He was appointed Bishop of the Eparchy of Van Nuys on December 6, 2007 and served as the Bishop of the renamed Holy Protection of Mary Eparchy of Phoenix from March 2008 until his retirement at age 76 in May 2016.

Office of Christian Burial for His Grace, Gerald Nicholas Dino will take place at St. Stephen Byzantine Catholic Cathedral, 8141 North 16th Street, Phoenix, Arizona 85020, as follows:

  • Transfer of the Body to the Cathedral at 3:00 p.m.
  • Reception of the Body at 4:00 p.m.
  • Visitation from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • First Evening Office of Readings at 7:00 p.m.

Wednesday, December 2, 2020

  • Visitation from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m
  • Second Evening Parastas at 7:00 p.m.

Thursday, December 3, 2020

  • Funeral Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m.

Grave site and final interment is to be determined at a future date. All services will be streamed via the Eparchy of Phoenix Facebook page and the parish website, www.stsbcc.org. Anyone planning to attend the funeral liturgies and/or reception luncheon please R.S.V.P. by contacting Teresa Blanc at tribunalsec@ephx.org not later than Monday 23 November.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Gifts may be made to the Eparchy of Phoenix.
