Yes No Are you professed in consecrated/religious life? Yes No Are you actively discerning holy orders or professed consecrated/religious life? Yes No Lay Scholars AwardBased on your application thus far, you may be eligible for a Lay Scholars Award from the Living Hope Fund which has as its purpose the educating of lay men and lay women so that, as they live and work in the world, they will have the knowledge to bring people to Jesus Christ and to build the Byzantine Ruthenian Catholic Church in America. The Fund covers tuition for courses needed to complete the degree, program fees, and expenses for required textbooks (from submitted receipts) of those B.C.S. students who have financial need and who intend to use what is gained from the pursuit of their degree for serving as lay leaders at the parish level. For eligibility one letter of recommendation required in the admissions process must be from the applicant’s pastor (of a Byzantine Catholic parish) stating the applicant’s devotion to the parish, capacity for study, financial need, virtuous life, and potential for lay Church leadership in a volunteer or paid capacity. If a student discerns ordination to holy orders (minor or major) while enrolled in our School of Theology, he becomes ineligible for continued funding. If a student discerns profession to consecrated/religious life while enrolled in our School of Theology, he/she becomes ineligible for continued funding. This student, however, remains enrolled in our M.A.T. program according to the norms stated in the Academic Catalog. I would like to apply, am eligible, and will request the needed recommendation from my pastor (or parish administrator) I do not wish to apply. If I am not awarded the scholarship: I would like to continue with the application process for the term indicated on my application. I would like to defer my admissions consideration until that time when I may be once again eligible for the Lay Scholars Award.
